The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the rooms were clean. The location near Blue Ridge and Tennessee provided easy access to attractions and activities.

Misleading from the start. The pictures on the website hide the paint peeling from the doors and the terrible stairs, weird pit at the back of the building, and broken elevators. The room smelled of smoke. Towels and washcloths are rough and tattered. It feels like at one point money was put in the rooms to remodel and then the place was just left abandoned. We called to cancel but were refused a refund. Thankfully we just booked one night but I do not recommend. There were a few positives. The game room upstairs was nice with a pool table and chairs and a projector hooked to Roku. The breakfast area was nice but barely stocked.

We stayed here 2 weekends ago at the last minute and it was perfect for our needs as it always is. It’s very affordable, very clean, and pet friendly. It also has a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge mountains. It has some nice amenities too. Listen, is it perfect, no. It has a few rough edges. But the amount of work that had to be put into the renovation must’ve been monumental. A lot of nice fixtures and quality floors. Pillows and beds are very comfy. Shower was very pleasant with new fixtures as well. The Mallard Hotel is a shining example of the American spirit of hard work and ingenuity. We have stayed here before and we will again.

2 brothers booked rooms for the same stay, same class, one room was 125.00 and the other was 173.00. The rooms were clean. That was the only good point. One brother had no cups in the room even though there is a “kitchenette”. Neither ever saw an employee on-site, including in the office. The free breakfast is basically an apple. One of the rooms looked like the door had been forced open at one time. They both said they’d like to visit the area again sometime, but would choose other lodging. It was quiet.

Room darkener curtains let light in at night all across the entire top edge. If you call for towels you have to get them yourself on the second floor. Someone poured bleach in the washing machine and left it. You have to pay for ice. Elevator did not work. There is no free breakfast, only snack bars and a few pieces of fruit. Hotel door lock dose not lock when leaving for the day. Make sure you double check the door lock.

I absolutely loved this hotel. It was affordable and completely renovated. My room was basically brand new. I will definitely stay there again when visiting the mountains. Also, the location is perfect. It's close to Blue Ridge, hiking trails, and rafting

This is a perfect example of “you can’t put lipstick on a pig!” This hotel is totally misrepresented on their website! It is in a terrible location out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by interstates and worn out buildings. It is NOT anywhere close to Blue Ridge! I know now why there are no pictures of the outside except at night. We didn’t even get out of our car after seeing the outside of the place: dirty, holes in the doors, and shady people hanging around outside. I called to ask for our money back because of the reasons stated and was told I could get one nights rental back but the man said he needed to check with the owner and call me back. He called me back and said I couldn’t get any of our money back! It takes a very dishonest person to misrepresent a place of business to this degree AND charge over $200 per night for the rooms! Never go here!!!

Since changing from the Ducktown Inn to the newly “renovated” Mallard Hotel, I was sorely disappointed. When I arrived, there were holes in my door. I went outside and looked directly through them and could see my entire room. I was given a new room on the second floor. It was awful. The heat blew cold air. I set it all the way to 90 degrees and was still freezing. The heater itself is old, dusty snd moldy. My eyes, ears, throat and sinuses are killing me. My toilet seat was broken and the bathtub is very outdated, but its saving grace is a new shower head. On a podcast note, the beds were very clean, new and comfortable. Overall, I give it one star for at least having new beds. But, I will never go back and I am concerned about the unhealthy air that I was breathing all night while I was freezing.
